The History of the Internet

Thanks to the ReadWriteWeb for pointing me to this easy to understand animated video of the History of the Internet. It is from Melih Bilgil. Be sure to read the post on RWW which explains the use of a new type of info graphic used in the video (PICOL icons). Very nicely done!

This reminds me of the graphics used to describe the H2G2's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy in the movie of the same name.

Almost exactly so.

Okay, I had to go look up what H2G2 is: h2g2 is an unconventional guide to life, the universe and everything, an encyclopaedic project where entries are written by people from all over the world. I did see the movie, but don't remember the graphics. Anyway, I think they're pretty cool!
